Suffolk latch
Started with a finger hole in a door to lift a wooden latch and now it's used world wide. The shape of the fixing pads can vary and the lifter (ours has a slightly dished thumb-plate, with a curved down end on the reverse side) Sometimes the lifter has a lip or a knob and some are highly ornate. The keeper on the door frame varies too....ours is a stand-off version, with a nail fixing to back up the simple spike. Most modern latches are the Norfolk pattern, with a rectangular backplate.
Measures 8ins (200mm) and weighs 12oz or 342 grams.
